A re-enactment medieval tabor with single snare, using only the best quality calf skins. The two skin heads are tied to a wooden frame with hemp rope. A hemp snare is tied to one head. The playing surface is about 8.5" and the drum is about 4.5" deep. Includes a stick. Players usually hang the drum from the forearm while using one stick to strike the snared head. The tabor is suspended by a strap from the forearm, somewhere between the elbow and wrist. We are grateful to David Parsons, the well known lutenist, for his guidance in designing this theorbo (bass lute). The instrument is a large chitarrone/theorbo of early 17th century and pattern based on a surviving instrument by Beuchenberg with 6 fingered single courses and 8 diapasons. Each instrument is individually set up and fully serviced by our luthier prior to despatch. Fitted with Aquila Nylgut strings as standard, however our luthier can set up the instrument with Aquila Nylgut for an additional £195.
