  • Mollenhauer Denner Alto Recorder in Palisander

    Mollenhauer
    £650.00
Mollenhauer 5220 Denner alto f', palisander. In 2002, three years after the death of perhaps one of the greatest recorder makers Fred Morgan, Mollenhauer and the Morgan family began working together on a design of Denner alto to add to Mollenhauer’s already established and award winning Denner series. This partnership has resulted in high quality, well designed instruments becoming available to a wide circle of players. Morgan based his alto design on an instrument by Jacob Denner (1681-1735) from the Copenhagen Museum and undertook the complicated task of converting it into an instrument at a=440 whilst still retaining the essential characteristics of the original design. After years of careful research he designed a brilliant instrument that was faithful to the original in all but pitch. Based on this design, Mollenhauer present an instrument whose design features include a specially stabilised block to help prevent swelling and blocking and a curved windway with concave internal surfaces to make tonal variation easier to produce. With a clear upper octave and stable low notes this instrument also has a clear and full tone. The Mollenhauer Denner series (soprano) won the highly acclaimed German Music Instrument award in 1999. • Mollenhauer Denner Edition Alto Recorder in Grenadilla

    Mollenhauer
    £1,395.00
Mollenhauer Denner Edition Alto in grenadilla, a=442. This is a hand-crafted recorder after Jacob Denner (1681–1735). The bore shape is based on concepts that were developed in the Denner family workshop, in particular by Jacob Denner. The Denner family from Nuremberg were one of the most important and influential woodwind makers. Modern processes have made it possible to achieve a sound quality that was previously only a characteristic of low-pitch baroque instruments. Balanced and stable intonation across all the registers are the basis for the versatility of the refined sound. The characteristically direct voicing combines lightness and brilliance with focused airflow. An extensive amount of time is dedicated to crafting these exclusive instruments. Every instrument is voiced over a long period of time – periods of intense playing alternate with phases of fine tuning. In this way, Mollenhauer can closely monitor and adjust the development of every instrument. Specification of the Denner Edition recorder: Craftsman-made windway Heavily undercut finger holes Bushed thumbhole Rounded and polished beak Finish: historically stained, oiled and polished by hand. Threaded joints Case: Leather bag Click here to read Mollenhauer's brochure about their Denner Edition recorders. Listen to this recorder! It has a strong, warm and very expressive sound that makes it a versatile instrument capable of playing music from the 18th century to present day.
