A re-enactment medieval tabor with single snare, using only the best quality calf skins. The two skin heads are tied to a wooden frame with hemp rope. A hemp snare is tied to one head. The playing surface is about 13.5" and the drum is about 4.5" deep. Includes a stick. Players usually hang the drum from the forearm while using one stick to strike the snared head. The tabor is suspended by a strap from the forearm, somewhere between the elbow and wrist. Monk Cornettino in C @ A440 - Leather/Resin by Jeremy West - includes New Dutch Acorn Mouthpiece and Padded Bag The late Christopher Monk's legacy to early music was the invention and development of the resin cornetto and the workshops now under the management of Jeremy West and continue to produce some of the best and most widely played cornetti in the world. Some players choose this smaller cornettino over the treble of the family on account of its comfortable finger stretch. The finger hole spacing does make it suitable for children, giving them an insight into the world of renaissance wind otherwise only available to them through the recorder. Mollenhauer 5224 Denner alto f', grenadilla. In 2002, three years after the death of perhaps one of the greatest recorder makers Fred Morgan, Mollenhauer and the Morgan family began working together on a design of Denner alto to add to Mollenhauer’s already established and award winning Denner series. This partnership has resulted in high quality, well designed instruments becoming available to a wide circle of players. Morgan based his alto design on an instrument by Jacob Denner (1681-1735) from the Copenhagen Museum and undertook the complicated task of converting it into an instrument at a=440 whilst still retaining the essential characteristics of the original design. After years of careful research he designed a brilliant instrument that was faithful to the original in all but pitch. Based on this design, Mollenhauer present an instrument whose design features include a specially stabilised block to help prevent swelling and blocking and a curved windway with concave internal surfaces to make tonal variation easier to produce. With a clear upper octave and stable low notes this instrument also has a clear and full tone. The Mollenhauer Denner series (soprano) won the highly acclaimed German Music Instrument award in 1999.
