    Blezinger
    £1,375.00
The new Bressan by Blezinger alto available at baroque pitch in stained boxwood, a=415. I. Bressan. The recorders have a typically easy response and excellent tuning, combined with a rich and colourful sound. The project is based on Stephan Blezinger’s extensive knowledge of instruments by P.I.Bressan and decades of making entirely handcrafted recorders. The most recent high precision woodwork technology as well as intensive research into treatment of woods are combined with highly skilled workmanship in the hand-finishing of every single instrument – exactly the same processes as handmade recorders. The results are recorders suitable for the highest of musical demands, warm, brilliant and able to modulate, easy to play due to their secure response and precise intonation.. The Bressan recorder range is aimed at advanced scholars and students, amateurs, players requiring an additional high level instrument – and bridge the gap between standard middle range baroque recorders and top end hand made instruments. This recorder is supplied in a fitted hard case, with instructions and fingering chart.

  • Wenner Alto Recorder after Bressan in European Boxwood (a415)

    Wenner
    £2,350.00
This handmade, baroque-pitched (a=415) alto recorder by German maker Martin Wenner is perfect for playing French Baroque music. Wenner's recorder is after an original by Pierre Jaillard Bressan (1663 –1731) in Frans Bruggen's collection. You can hear the original being played in several recordings by Bruggen! Bressan moved from France to England in 1688 and established himself in London, where he mainly made recorders. His instruments tended to have thick ivory mounts which he added on to his recorders after applying the “golden ratio” to cut them. There are Bressan recorders in England, including a particularly well preserved one in the Bate Collection in Oxford. The original Bressan recorders tend to be pitched around a=409. For convenience Wenner's produces this model at baroque pitch (a=415) and French Baroque pitch (a=392) . This recorder is made in European boxwood and, like the original, has a full, round tone. It comes with a handmade, soft case and Wenner's recorder oil.

  • Von Huene Alto Scherer a=392

    Von Huene
    £2,380.00
The von Huene Scherer alto recorder is based on an instrument believed to be made between 1740 and 1750 by Georg Heinrich Scherer in the small town of Butzbach. The original, now in the private collection of the von Huene family, is in ivory with single holes and plays close to a=410. By scaling the body joint down the instrument pitch has been brought down to a=392, making it a beautiful, low-pitch instrument. The Scherer alto is a favorite amongst professionals for playing French music and sometimes for J.S. Bach's Cantata #106: Gottes Zeit ist die allerbeste Zeit. This copy is in selected European boxwood, with double holes. It is available with imitation ivory mounts upon request.

  • Von Huene Alto after Denner in European Boxwood a415

    Von Huene
    £2,585.00
Two of the most widely respected wind instrument makers in the Germany of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries were Johann Christoph Denner and his son Jacob. Johann Christoph was amazingly prolific, inventive and versatile, while his son refined the designs as the changing times demanded. Jacob Denner and Telemann were contemporaries and compatriots. Telemann wrote some very demanding pieces, many using the extreme range of the recorder. It is very possible that Telemann owned a Denner recorder, for his music demanded an instrument that could speak very easily, even in the highest register. The von Huene Denner alto recorders can be heard on many recordings by outstanding performers. They are based on an original from circa 1720 in the Musikhistorisk Museum in Copenhagen, and are made of European boxwood. Please note boxwood instruments come in a wide variety of shades, ranging from the light yellow of natural boxwood to dark brown or black. The colour in the photo is not necessarily representative of all instruments of the same model.
