A reconstruction of an instrument after an illustration in the 13th century Spanish manuscript "Cantigas de Santa Maria". Its diatonic scale has the range of a ninth. Cip bladder pipe in c 1 octave. An authentic bladder pipe made by Czech maker Pavel Cip. This is a reconstruction of an extinct woodwind instrument, testified by many iconographic and literary sources. The instrument has a windcap, which at the same time serves as an air reservoir, allowing a continuous tone during playing. The original instrument would have been made with a tanned pig's bladder but the reproduction has a bag made from fine leather. Cip 4 part Bohemian bagpipe d. This ancient folk instrument is played in most of Bohemia's bagpipe regions, and also in the neighbouring areas of Austria and Germany. The chanter has 7 finger holes enabling the playing (in closed fingering) of a typical Central European bagpipe scale, the range of which is an incomplete ninth. The drone is tuned two octaves below the basic tone of the chanter. The pipes have a cylindrical bore and the air reservoir is made from goatskin (with hair).
