This soprano recorder is made from cherrywood and was crafted in the Takeyama workshop in Japan. It is pitched at modern pitch (a=442Hz). 

This recorder is perfect for the advancing player who wants a recorder that can handle playing various genres.

Wonderful Takeyama soprano recorder in cherrywood.

I used EMS’s excellent approval scheme again to try out three Takeyama sopranos in three different woods - maple, boxwood and cherrywood. All three instruments had a very good clear, vibrant sound quality, but I chose the cherrywood one, which had that extra ‘something’ about it- the appearance of the lovely natural wood was more attractive than the stained wood of the other two, and more importantly, I thought the sound was more expressive and interesting. I’m still playing it in, but it already responds well throughout its range and it’s a joy to play. A very minor quibble is that it came without any grease, cleaning rod or maintenance instructions.

Another beautiful instrument by Takeyama

Having played a Takeyama voice flute and a soprano in Baroque pitch for several years, I had high expectations of my new acquisition, in modern pitch, and was completely satisfied and delighted. The tone is bright and clear, the intonation across the full range is excellent, and the instrument is very responsive and a joy to play.
