Flötentöne is a modern piece for Alto Recorder solo composed by Peter Hoch in 1992. This piece consists of 3 movements (sets) and uses extended techniques such as multiphonics. The third set requires improvisation.

Lovestories is modern piece conprising of 4 movements or "stories" for solo recorder composed in 1990 by Axel D. Ruoff. The first story can be played on a treble or descant recorder, but the remaining stories are for treble recorder. This work is written in conventional notation and requires simple techniques such as glissandi.

Tirata is a modern piece composed by Axel Ruoff in 1989 for Alto Recorder solo. This piece requires very competent double tonguing.

Klapstuk is a modern piece composed by Claudia Spahn in 1989 for Bass Recorder solo. Fingering, Rhyhms for each hand and Blowing have been separated in the notation, similar to the concept used in Berio's Gesti.

Gedämpfte Schwingung, 'Damped Vibration', is a modern piece for Solo Alto Recorder composed by Winfried Michel. This piece requires various extended techniques as well as using the recorder's extended range.

Six Studies is a set of six studies for Pedal Harps by Eric Schmidt . Reviewed and edited by Pierre Jamet , a French Professor at the Paris Conservatoire, this set would be ideal for an upper intermediate level and above. Most studies are two pages long and enable the player to work on different technical aspects: I. Allegro (3/4, tempo 120) II. Vivace (4/4, tempo 132) – It focuses finger flexibility with a set: 4-1-3-1-2-1-3-1-4 for the right hand III. Lento (3/4, tempo 48) – It focuses on arpeggios IV. Andante con moto (3/4, tempo 92) - It has the same aim as the second study but includes chords to play on “1” V. Con Bravura (6/8) – This is a work on chords which has few pedal changes VI. Leggiero Volante (4/4) – Longer than the other studies, it also focuses on developing fingers flexibility, and features some glissando and some pedal changes

Gabriel Pierné (1863-1937) was a French composer, conductor and organist. Despite being predominantly remembered as a conductor, his Solo De Concert remains a recognised piece in the Bassoon repertoire. Pierné studied at the Paris Conservatoire before taking up the position of chief conductor for the concert series, Concerts Colonne in 1910. He remained in the post until 1933, and during this time, he notably conducted the world premiere of Igor Stravinsky 's The Firebird. Pierné composed for a variety of instruments, Concert Solo for Bassoon being one of four solo works by the composer. This Pierné piece for Bassoon contains many characteristics typical of the French style, such as significant tempo changes and performance directions, flourishes of semiquavers, chromaticism and many alterations in dynamics. Concert Solo is a varied piece essential to the repertoire of aspiring bassoonists.
