Recorder31 Day 20 | Introducing Banbury Early Music Festival
Today for Recorder31 we present the first of two spotlights on events which The Early Music Shop is visiting this year with our Pop-Up Shop. First, we highlight a new festival in Oxfordshire, UK, which we are pleased to be supporting in its very first year. Check back tomorrow for part two, where we look back on an event we visited earlier this month.
The organisers of Banbury Early Music Festival have kindly prepared this exclusive video for Recorder31, which explains a little bit about how recorder players (and players of other instruments, and music fans!) can get involved in their programme.
Banbury Early Music Festival runs on 28-29 September 2024 and offers a wide range of concerts, workshops and shopping opportunities for early music enthusiasts of all ages and abilities.
Find out more about Banbury Early Music Festival & buy tickets here!
Recorder events at the festival include concerts from Palisander and Sounds Historical, a workshop with Annabel Knight and other participatory events.
We at The Early Music Shop will be visiting the festival with our Pop-Up Shop, offering a range of instruments including recorders, lutes and more, along with selected sheet music. If you are attending the festival and would like us to bring something specific, please get in touch and let us know!
If you're not in the UK, we highly recommend checking out all the artists mentioned in the video – if you're not familiar with their work already, you will be about to discover some new recorder music to enjoy!

The Sound of Recorder Music!
Today's recorder audio clips come from the Moeck Rottenburgh Alto in maple. One of the most popular models we sell, Moeck's Rottenburgh instruments are beautifully made and very easy to play. This maple instrument is the least dense wood, and therefore the cheapest in the range. Listen to the clips below or follow this link to find out more about this instrument.
