As usual, we are kicking things off with a competition – it's your chance to share your talents and be in with the chance of winning a wonderful new recorder.
This week, it's time for a duets challenge! Recorder players often love to work together in ensembles, and sometimes there can be nothing better than sharing some music with somebody else. This week we're throwing the spotlight onto recorder duets!
There's no rules here other than the fact we want to hear two recorders together: you can play with your friend, parent, grandparent, teacher, student, colleague – anyone you like! Players of any standard can enter and you can choose the piece you wish to play. We'll be looking for players with a great musical connection, highlighting communication, musicality and enjoyment!
One lucky pair will each win a brand new J. Wood alto recorder in maple, launched during last year's Recorder31 and worth £165 each.

Made in Germany, the J. Wood alto recorder in maple is an affordable, high quality instrument which delivers a rich body of sound, with an easy response and excellent intonation. The recorder is supplied in an attractive fabric case. It produces a remarkably strong sound with rich overtones and a pleasing breathiness. It makes the perfect instrument for beginner players, those progressing from plastic to wooden instruments, or even advanced/professional players looking for an entry-level instrument for their practice or rehearsals.
