Zen On G1A a=415 Bressan Alto Recorder

by Zen-On
14 reviews
£104.17 excluding VAT (UK Export Price)

The eagerly awaited Zen-On plastic at baroque pitch (a=415) is now available!

This alto recorder is designed after originals by Bressan by Japanese makers Takeyama and Hirao. It has a rich sound with lots of overtones and is very responsive. Like the modern pitch version, it has a brand new finger hole design allowing undercutting.

A perfect starting alto for anyone wanting to explore playing at baroque pitch or a great practice instrument!

Excellent 415 Alto at a reasonable price

I had heard good reviews for this instrument and I wasn't disappointed, in fact I am absolutely delighted with it! Also excellent service from Early Music Shop with the item well packaged and quick delivery.

Zen On a=415 Bressan Alto Recorder

I've been very impressed with this recorder. The sound is a bit thin compared to a wooden instrument and the top G can sound rather shrill, but overall it plays remarkably well, and I found that it didn't have the same condensation problems as my wooden alto. At the price it is a real bargain!

Zen On G1A a=415 Bressan Alto Recorder

I am very impressed with the tone quality of this instrument - very large sound compared to the A-440 version. The tone thins out above high E - especially the G. The intonation is also quite good. The middle F is a bit sharp as is the high G, but certainly manageable. I especially like the low F# and Ab. These notes tend to be weak on may instruments, but they are very solid on this recorder. I was also very pleased with the customer service. The shipping was very fast to the US and packing was quite good.

Zen On G1A a=415 Bressan Alto Recorder

Great service as usual from EMS came very quickly and well packaged. I was a little sceptical at first but have played the recorder now and am converted. It is a lovely thing and plays very well especially in the mid range. One or two notes needed a tweak but that may be me rather than the recorder. Played it with wooden A415 trebles and it blends in very well, couldn’t tell any difference. For the price it is a real bargain, I hope they can do a descant.

A budget treble at A=415

I’m a self-confessed devotee or wooden recorders! Not that plastic recorders don’t sound good! Just that I much prefer the feel of wood. That being said I could not help buying this one, because of its unique place as the only budget recorder at A=415 ("baroque" pitch). It’s a great instrument, nicely balanced throughout most of its range, apart from a tendency for high e and f to be a bit shrill. It’s a good buy.
