This recorder is cast from plant-based “Ecodear” plastic, which produces a mellow, centered tone that is similar to that of wooden recorders.

Better than expected!

The Yamaha Alto has a lovely, mellow sound, much better than I expected from a plastic recorder. It's relatively easy to play, and very easy to look after. The travel case makes it convenient as an on-the-go instrument. Highly recommend.

Excellent Alto

I just couldn’t get a low F out of my aulos alto. (Was about to give up with the alto and just play descant) But with the Yamaha Ecodear alto I get a very nice low F really easily! (The Ecodear descant is also my favourite so far and thus is now my favourite alto) there may be better expensive wooden models out there but if you are on a budget the Ecodear I have found to be excellent!

Good instrument

Excellent as a second alternative to a good wooden instrument. Not as warm, but reasonable rounded sound, easy to play throughout whole note range. Really good value
