Von Huene Kirst Baroque Flute (a440/415) in Grenadilla

After the death of Quantz, F.G.A. Kirst was officially appointed flute maker to Frederick the Great. He lived a long and active life, producing flutes into the 19th century. Our copy is modeled on the original in the Muskikinstrumenten-Museum, Staatliches Institut für Musikforschung, Berlin, and is made of blackwood with ivory rings, optional screwcork, and foot register. The instrument is supplied with two middle joints at a=440 and a=415 in a soft case. Many copies of this flute were made by Friedrich von Huene and used extensively in concerts and recordings, most notably for the flute quartets and concertos of Mozart.
