Unusual bow. It looks primitive, but it is supposed to look primitive, and it feels robust and well made.
This Trouvere medieval bow is unlike any other bow I’ve used.
I’m used to clip in frog bows to play viols.
Trouvere bow has very thick robust wood stick. Frog seems fixed in place, not clip in so the bow is under constant tension; but the stick looks so strong that I don’t think being under constant tension will damage it.
Trouvere bow has real hair, unlike the EMS bows, which use nylon filament.
Trouvere bow feels unusual compared to the bows I’m used to, but it plays satisfactorily on my treble viol.
