The Warleggan Assembly
A Collection of Regency Country Dances

Researched by Matthew Coatsworth
Dances interpreted by Georgia Delve

A collection of Regency country dances found in a single bound book in the Bodleian Library, University of Oxford, simply entitled Dances.

It was part of a bequest left by Walter Harding, a ragtime pianist and organist from Chicago, totaling 22 tonnes of books, sheet music and ephemera – the largest donation in the Bodleian’s history. This tunebook (40 pages) contains images, sheet music, research and history, and dances.

An accompanying CD of the featured tunes, recorded by the Warleggan Village Band, is also available from The Early Music Shop – click here to view.
