Recorder Festival

Excellent & thank you to all the team for delivering a great w.e of fantastic performances & classes. At times catering organisation seemed inadequate for the no. of people attending (the catering staff were great & I enjoyed most of the food, thank you very much). Tweaking catering organisation during refreshment breaks would facilitate a more +ve experience eg provision of complimentary (sp?) tea/coffee & biscuits served at more than 1 station, either closer to teaching rooms or during a slightly longer break. Fringe performers were a wonderful feature, altho a quieter location close to the hub would’ve allowed them to be more greatly appreciated. Massed playing: lovely piece & composer/conductor. Tricky for those who couldn’t hear or see Bill. To help maintain a brisk pace of these sessions, I propose that delegates are asked to take their own water bottles around with them & organisers ideally to provide water stations in public areas so they may refill them if need be. A no. of players had left for their journey home before the 2nd massed play & it ended abruptly as we ran out of time. A winding up/down chat from Chris with somehow a sense of fellowship to end a great weekend would have been good imho. Overall, thank you very much!

2025 Recorder festival

A very full on and well attended playing weekend hosted jointly by the Society of Recorder Players and the Early Music shop. There were really excellent tutors in attendance covering a wide range of abilities. The free Friday recital by Palisander Recorder Quartet performing a varied repertoire was truly inspiring, as was listening to the fantastic playing from the Flanders Recorder Duo on Sunday. Well worth the journey to enjoy and indulge in a fabulous weekend of recorder playing. Two sittings for meals may have eliminated the need to queue though? Catherine
