Perfect customer service

The first time the instrument arrived broken, but EMS help us and send a new one. They have a very good customer service and beautiful instruments! So 5 stars, no doubt.

Very Nice For Singers

Took me a week of tuning before it really held tuning. Not surprising with a new string instrument. Very easy to tune. I played some early music tunes on it right away. Even though I have a variety of picks I prefer the plucked sound my fingers make. Excellent value for the money.

Better than expected

The Psaltery is quite solidly built and has a nice sound. It holds its tune quite well and really to tune it up it only needs minuscule adjustments. The spare strings were a useful addition. The only downside is the padded bag which is quite cheaply made.

EMS Plucked Psaltery - good starting instrument

The instrument plays very well and once tuned stays stable (especially the longer you have it). A small number of pegs seem to slip slightly (i.e. those strings have a habit of going out of tune quicker than others, but this doesn't affect performance). I didn't have a problem tuning it up, but I am a musician and I have a good sense of pitch. I didn't use a tuner, but tuned the G against another instrument and then used that to tune all the Gs. Then I worked on the notes a fourth and fifth from that, and then all their octaves, and so on. Seems to work for me! I'm sure other tuning methods are available. Psaltery is so very versatile! You can play it in so many ways, including finger picking, using feather quills or plectra, strumming to make chords (like an autoharp - using your left hand to dampen the ones you dont want). You have to be a bit careful to not spike yourself with the end of a metal string when taking the instrument out of the case! I really like the spare strings and the tuning handle works very well. I had to send back the padded case as it had a broken zip pull but that issue was very quickly resolved.
