Paetzold SOLO Contra Bass in F inc case

I am very pleased with this recorder. For a Paetzold instrument the tone is lovely and it is not too heavy to carry, including the soft case, which makes it easily portable. Peter Booth who sold it to me was, as usual, very helpful and concerned that I should get the most out of the instrument. Thank you.

I like Paetzold SOLO Contra Bass Recorder.i am japanese

In an ensemble, a contrabass recorder will make a good sound. Alto, tenor, and bass are the main, and then add soprano and contrabass. A quintet of 1 can make the best sound. I personally bought it from Early Music. It can only be obtained by personal import to Japan. The main body of this instrument is black, and the controls are made of wood, giving it a solid appearance. The lower Dosira sofa is easy to put out, and the sound is loud, so it's good. If you use it in many places, you will need a carrying case. A musical instrument stand is required each time it is used. The height of the instrument is 170 cm. It is better to have a telescopic pin to adjust the height of the mouth. We need to be prepared to wait one to two months for imports and exports between Japan and the UK. If you decide to buy it, get an estimate from Early Music and get a loan from the bank. You can get it if you take it and pay by bank transfer in British pounds. I like this instrument.

Paetzold SOLO Contra Bass Recorder

Up till now I played a borrowed older wooden Paezold. I am very pleased with this new SOLO. Being made from resin, it is much lighter. It speaks well, even on the lowest notes. The build quality is excellent.

I purchased the SOLO Paetzold Contrabass and soft case from the Early Music Shop online 9 months ago. I had been playing a wooden Paetzold contra for several years on-loan in my recorder orchestra in California, USA, and decided I would buy one so we could have two Contras playing in the orchestra. I love this instrument, even more than the wooden Paetzold! The best things about it are a) the light weight, so much lighter than the Maple instrument and that makes it easier to play; b) the sound carries much better in large auditoriums and in larger ensembles than the wooden one; c) the price makes is affordable for pretty much anyone who is a recorder lover. The only criticism of the instrument is that it plays flatter than the wooden one. It took me about 2 months to get used to that and to be able to play at 440 pitch. I don't know if it was me learning the instrument, or the instrument "breaking in", but I was ready to return it after the first week because of that. I'm glad I didn't! It's certainly a keeper. One other note -- I was amazed at the service from the Early Music Shop. I was a little nervous purchasing an instrument in England all way from my home in California. But the staff at EMS were great at answering questions, and shipping was FAST (it took longer to receive an instrument I ordered from VonHuene in Boston than it did to receive the Paetzold from UK to California!). I'm glad I had a chance to finally write this review after enjoying the instrument for 9 months!
