£1,037.50 excluding VAT (UK Export Price)

Immensely popular range of recorders originally designed by Friederich von Huene after models by Belgian maker Jean-Hyacinth-Joseph Rottenburgh (1672-1756). Versatile, reliable and used by all levels of players who enjoy instruments made to consistently high standards. They are without doubt the world's most successful recorder series and remain one of our best sellers. The Rottenburgh is the instrument of choice for those recorder players who wish to play music at an advanced level. It is a reliable instrument with a carrying tone, whether played in small or large ensembles. It also lends itself perfectly for solo pieces, e.g. for sonatas with basso continuo. The Rottenburgh is the ideal all rounder: reliable, balanced and with a full tone. Depending on the wood it has a warm full sound for ensemble playing and is beautifully clear and expressive as a solo instrument.

The double C/C# bottom key and middle G/F keys helps players play the tenor in comfort without large finger stretches.

Beautiful and expressive

I have been playing a plastic Yamaha tenor for many years, but have always struggled with the stretch in the right hand. If I played more than 3 or 4 notes which only require the left hand, followed by notes which require holes to be covered by the right hand, my right hand never seemed to land in the right place. In addition to solving that problem, this recorder is stunning to look at and is incredibly responsive for a recorder with 4 keys, as well as sounding more beautiful and expressive every day as I play it in.

Happy fingers!

I bought this ‘Comfort Tenor’ because my hands are crippled with hands are now misshapen , stiff and very painful, the stretch is also limited, as soon as I picked up this tenor I could reach all the holes/keys easily. It’s great to be able to play all the music I used to perform on a normal tenor with ease, using the ‘Comfort Tenor’.

First of all it is so beautiful! The keys appear to be gold plated (there are 4 of them). Even though I have large hands it is truly much more comfortable to have keys. I owned a plastic tenor for years and this is a huge step up. The case is gorgeous and the outside of it is a leather like material very elegant. The sound is crisp and sweet and I am only supposed to play for 5 minutes today. I love it and could never have afforded it at the competition site price. Thanks to Emma and the staff at Early Music Shop. Cheers!
