Useful book but….

Has some useful information and a number of pieces of music. In a beginner book it would have been helpful to give some guidance to left hand fingering and it’s quite expensive for only 24 pages.

Start here!

I already play classical guitar and have fancied a lute for many years. The book enables me to explore lute tablature, with my guitar tuned as a lute. I want to know whether I can cope with the different style of notation. DeGroodt’s book is ideal - the notation is clearly explained and there are several sample pieces for practice. There is also practical advice about tuning, fret tying and care of a lute, plus suggestions for further reading. An excellent introduction!
