Küng's Superio series is based on original recorders by Stanesby Jnr. They have a wide, baroque bore which produces a strong sound, rich in overtones. These recorders have a large expressive range and will cope with the most demanding repertoire. The Superio recorders are highly ergonomic, with great attention given to comfort and the ease of fingering.

This soprano recorder is made of plumwood and comes in a hard case with a cleaning rod, cork grease and maintenance instructions.

Good basic recorder

Kueng recorders are open and even in response. I have several different words in the Superio line and they were very consistent in tone and quality. Recommended

Pleasant Surprise

I have not yet used my new Kung Plumwood soprano in our recorder group (on hiatus due to COVID) but have played a bit with my partner in duets, and today I made a comparison among the Kung Plumwood and 4 other sopranos (Moeck - probably maple or pearwood, plastic Aulos, maple Rossler and Renaissance style wood recorder). Although it was not a blind test, I really preferred the new Kung plumwood. It has a very clear and upfront sound with nice overtones, especially in the lower notes. It wasn’t as loud as the Renaissance soprano, of course, but overall was very pleasing. I now have an (almost) complete set of Kung recorders except for the Contrabass (which I covet!). Plumwood in a recorder sounds very nice, indeed!

Kung superio plumwood

As a beginner at recorder I looked carefully before deciding on this recorder. I would highly recommend it as it has a warm but strong sound. It is very clear and responds quickly without lots of breath. It assembled easily and im glad I chose this as my next step. Also aesthetically very individual as the grain of the wood would most likely be different on each one. Love it.
