Küng's Superio series is based on original recorders by Stanesby Jnr. They have a wide, baroque bore which produces a strong sound, rich in overtones. These recorders have a large expressive range and will cope with the most demanding repertoire. The Superio recorders are highly ergonomic, with great attention given to comfort and the ease of fingering. The great bass is a knick style bass which provides easy reach for the player and direct articulation. There is a roller on the double bottom keys that allows for easy fingering. The great bass can be played either standing on the floor due to the design at the bottom, or with the use of a specially made stand model 9735.

The Kung great bass recorder is made of stained maple and comes in a hard case with a cleaning rod, cork grease, maintenance instructions and a sling.

This is a real great recorder truly!

It's a very good valance, easy to sound and sing, and loud low tones. This is my third great bass recorder. (^^♪

Great Sounding C Bass

It is the best sounding of the (Non-Paetzold type) Great basses but the low and pinched F#'s are very weak notes with the standard fingering. It is necessary to use the alternative fingering wherever possible to avoid a kind of "wolf tone" where the F# easy overloads. This is because on low E, D and C which are all strong you can really fill the instrument with air and then F# doesn't match in strength. The alternative fingering for the F# is LH Th123 and RH finger 1 depressing the ring only but not covering the tone hole. It can be managed by pushing the ring with the underside of the right index finger so the the pad of the finger still floats ready for when the tone hole next needs covering.

My Great Bass

I am still learning to play this instrument but the overall appearance and sound of this recorder is amazing. I would definitely buy another Kung.
