The Crumhorn - book

I am finding the book both interesting and useful, with all the information needed to start playing the crumhorn. However, it was very focused towards C fingerings, which is no problem for those used to recorders and changing from C to F fingerings, but prevented a friend purchasing as most of the tunes are aimed at C instruments. Perhaps a supplement of transposed tunes for alto and/or bass players would be helpful.

So You Want to Play the Crumhorn. . .

If one wishes to begin playing the crumhorn in this day and age, one is limited by many things - the lack of entry-level information being one of the most dire. This book helps to close the gap. It is a friendly, non-threatening source of basic historical information, and technique - not an in-depth source, but it covers a lot of the basics for those who are approaching this instrument with total ignorance, but great enthusiasm. It includes explanations of all parts of the instrument, care of the instrument, different necessary techniques, a small selection of easy music, and a short list of further repertoire. All in all, a very useful book, well worth the purchase!
