EMS Lute Padded Bag by Early Music Shop - a flexible canvas padded bag suitable for all EMS 6, 7 & 8 Course Lutes and some other lutes with an approximate vibrating string length of 600mm

Internal dimensions:
700mm is the maximum length for the lute and 300mm is the maximum width and  a depth of 160mm. This bag is quite a snug fit on even our EMS Heritage lutes as there is little give in the fabric, so please contact us with your measurements prior to purchase, especially if ordering from overseas to avoid disappointment.

Useful, but perhaps a bit pricey.

The EMS service was, as ever, First-Class. The member of staff who dealt with this transaction from first to last was Anthony - he told me the dimensions of my lute that he required so that he could check that the case would be big enough; he also asked for a simple sketch of the instrument, with the key measurements clearly added. Confirmation of the receipt and a positive result concerning the dimensions came within the hour; the case arrived two working days later. Obviously, a padded case offers nothing like the protection that a hard case would offer, but it looks to be water-proof and seems likely to offer protection against light bumps. My only reservation concerns the price - in the region of £90, including p&p. I suppose the fact that such an item is not likely to be mass-produced removes any possibility of economies of scale.
