A high quality solo recorder from the workshops of Dutch recorder maker Hans Coolsma (1919-1991). Coolsma recorders are designed with a curved windway producing a responsive and direct sound, suitable for playing both baroque and contemporary music. This alto recorder is made of palisander and the thumbhole is bushed. Five year guarantee.

This recorder comes with a hard case, pull through, fingering chart, maintenance instructions and a 5-year warranty.

Coolsma Alto in Palisander

I tried several makes of alto recorder on the loan scheme from EMS and so had time to access each recorder. Right from the start I felt very comfortable playing the Coolsma. This hardwood recorder produces a sweet tone and yet has enough brightness to be a solo instrument or to play with an orchestra. It is a handsome, elegant looking instrument and felt lighter to hold than other recorders and has a slightly refined mouthpiece. I particularly liked the finish on the Coolsma with its bush over the thumbhole. A lovely instrument.
