The 703W 'Haka' soprano plastic recorder in an imitation rosewood finish.

The 703W is made after an original instrument by early 18th century Dutch maker Richard Haka. It has a rich, reedy tonal quality, making it suitable for much of the baroque solo repertoire, with a stronger more reliable tone than cheaper models.

This recorder is in three pieces and is supplied with a brown case, cleaning rod, thumb-rest, fingering chart and joint grease.

I love this recorder!

After talking to the super helpful staff at the Early Music Shop I went for this recorder. It was more than I had been thinking to spend, but I'm so very glad I went for it! It has a beautiful sound, far nicer than the cheaper plastic recorders and actually on a par with some of the wooden ones. But unlike a wooden one, there's no playing in required and it's very easy to hit the upper register notes. And unlike wood it's not going to be as affected by weather, when I'm playing outdoors with the morris side. 100% recommend going straight for one of these, and not starting with a cheaper model. For the sake of a few quid you're getting a far nicer instrument.

An upgrade from my 40 year old Aulos 205

Having recently re-familiarised myself with recorder playing after a 30 something year gap, an upgrade was in order. Not sure I was ready to spend hundreds but positive reviews via Sarah Jeffrey’s ‘Team Recorder’ YouTube channel and a desire to stick with what I know led me to the Aulos 703. First impressions after an hour of playing is that the lowest notes are cleaner and clearer and the higher notes are generally far easier to hit than my old 205, except Top A which seems oddly tricky, when I’ve never had problems before. Work to do on my thumb hole position and air perhaps. I’m also finding it clogging a lot more, but that could just be acclimatisation given the parcel was outside for most of the day. Overall it is far easier to play, especially at speed and I look forward to continued improvement. Speedy delivery from EMS.

Autos 703W Soprano Recorder

This recorder has a very nice tone. The holes are slightly sharp on the edges but will smooth off with use.

Aulos 703W Soprano Recorder

this is the most expensive of 4 Aulos descants stocked by the early music shop. I have previously been using a cheaper Aulos. This model gives clearer and easier top notes a better dynamic range from soft to loud. I would recommend it

Really nice recorder

The Haka is a lovely recorder with a great sound. It’s slightly longer than all of my other plastic recorders but it’s still easy to play even though I have small hands.
