An 8-course Renaissance lute based on an instrument by Hans Frei, with a 62 cm vibrating string length and tuned in G. This lute offers a rich, resonant sound with wonderful harmonic depth and sustain, making it particularly well suited to the music of John Dowland and other late Renaissance composers.
Its generous sustain and beautifully balanced harmonies make it a rewarding instrument for both solo playing and ensemble performance.
About the maker
Alex-Théo Nieto attended the French instrument-making school Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume in Mirecourt, France, and later graduated from the Scuola Civica di Liuteria di Milano, specializing in historical instrument making. He is a former student of Carlos Gonzalez Marcos and Gwendal LeCorre, lute makers from the French Lute Society.
In 2021, he opened his own workshop, specializing in lute and early guitar making. His instruments are characterized by rich harmonies, a well-balanced sound, harmonious proportions, and meticulous attention to detail. They are always distinguished by a warm, rich tone.
