Exciting times ahead for the The Early Music Shop

Chris Butler, today announced his personal acquisition of J Wood & Sons Ltd, trading as The Early Music Shop.

The Early Music Shop was founded by Richard Wood in 1968 but its roots can be traced back to 1850, when Richard’s great great Grandfather Joe Wood started his business selling pianos and later, sheet music. Now celebrating its 50th anniversary, the company is well recognised as the world’s largest period instrument specialist, selling a complete range of early instruments whilst providing an unparalleled level of personal service expected by its discerning customers, who include professional, student and amateur musicians.

The business will continue with the existing management team of Peter Booth and Anthony Calvert at the main showroom in Saltaire, whilst Emma Williams heads up the showroom in central London at Denmark Street. Their combined knowledge and experience will ensure customers worldwide continue to enjoy the traditional values of an independently owned company alongside the modern-day benefits of a new website and simplified online shopping.
