Stephen Robinson Spinet after Thomas Hitchcock with stand (no. 27) based on Thomas Hitchcock's spinet in the Russell Collection, Edinburgh University. Dated 2021, this is a brand new instrument straight from Stephen's workshop in England, beautifully hand-crafted from solid woods throughout and with stunning attention to detail. This spinet is made along traditional lines but with the added benefit of being transposing (playing at a440 and a415). Five octave compass GG-g3; 61 notes. One set of strings, 8'. Case exterior veneered in walnut; interior veneered in figured walnut with ash herringbone inlay like the original. Includes turned walnut stand based on an original Hitchcock stand. A completely new range of keyboard kits for home assembly developed with Bizzi Harpsichords in conjunction with The Early Music Shop. This Bizzi Studio 2 Harpsichord Kit is designed for home assembly and is supplied with a fully assembled casework (including the soundboard and bridge) leaving the kit builder to complete the final construction. The kit is supplied with all the parts necessary, such as strings, jacks and registers to build this kit into a fully playable keyboard. However, the kit does not include glue, tools, clamps, varnish or paint, which are generally available from any good DIY store. The kit includes a fully comprehensive DVD (including parts list) which takes you through all the stages of construction step by step along with detailed text, as seen in the promotional video. Plus, we are always available for advice during construction and supply replacement parts, if required. Please note this instrument is supplied in kit form for home assembly. A re-enactment medieval tabor with single snare, using only the best quality calf skins. The two skin heads are tied to a wooden frame with hemp rope. A hemp snare is tied to one head. The playing surface is about 11.5" and the drum is about 4.5" deep. Includes a stick. Players usually hang the drum from the forearm while using one stick to strike the snared head.
