Yamaha 402B Encodear Descant Recorder

This was a present for my 8 year old granddaughter and after looking at reviews from professional players online I bought this for her. She is delighted with it and can’t/won’t stop playing it. It has a nice warm tone, looks smart and excellent for a young beginner and not too expensive. Ticks all the boxes for a young beginner.

Great for the price

I am very much an amateur player and wanted a reasonable plastic recorder to play in a group where the vast majority play on plastic as my wooden descant just didn’t sound ‘right’ in the group. It came down to a choice between this recorder and the zen-on Stanseby Both seemed excellent to me some notes better and easier to play on one than the other, but neither coming out a clear winner to my untrained ear. I’d have been happy with either, but chose the Ecodear for its more eco- friendly credentials and also it was a little cheaper. Played it a few times now and still happy with my purchase.

Nice instrument

The Yamaha is a good 'second' alternative to a wooden instrument especially as a practice recorder. Easy to play over whole note range, nice rounded sound, not as warm as a wooden instrument but still good. Recommended and very good value

Ecodear descant

Really great recorder, lovely sound, very pleased with my purchase - apart from the clogging up with condensation, but I am going to buy anti-condensation liquid to fix that
