Mollenhauer Dream Soprano Recorder Pearwood Blue Double Holes

6 reviews
£97.08 excluding VAT (UK Export Price)

Mollenhauer 4119B. Adri's Dream recorder soprano (descant) c'', pearwood blue, renaissance (wide) bore, baroque fingering, double holes. Made from pearwood stained blue with dark stained rings, this is an ideal first recorder for teaching in groups or classes, the large finger holes making it ideal for children. Produced in collaboration with reputable Dutch recorder maker Adriana Breukink, the Dream range is a popular choice of instrument with all levels of player. Based on the renaissance style after van Eyck it has a wide bore giving it a broad, full sound, but has conventional baroque fingering. This results in a sound that is full and powerful like the renaissance originals but with an easy response over two octaves. The Dream recorder is also popular with folk musicians who require a louder instrument for performance with amplified instruments.

With cotton bag, mop, cork grease, fingering chart, maintenance instructions.

Mollenhauer Dream Soprano Recorder pearwood double hole blue

A beautiful looking instrument. Easy to play with the higher notes needing just a little practice compared to some. Very expressive and lovely lower register. The team at Early Music were very helpful and let me try several instruments in a dedicated room to help in my decision

Dream Soprano

Good thanks. Excellent tone for playing folk music and rather like the blue colour for “less serious” music.

Mollenhauer Dream Soprano Recorder Pearwood Blue Double Holes

I class myself as a beginner on recorders (being mainly a guitarist) but appreciate good tone so when I listened to the sound clips of this instrument on the EMS website I was tempted to try one. Compared to the 50 year old Aldus wooden recorder I have (my old school recorder), it has a much purer and more colourful tone, particularly in the lower notes. In contrast the Aldus is more 'earthy' and raspy and sounds more melancholic. I can't really comment on the playability due to my limited experience but for me I have found it easy to play, and was surprised how easily I could get a nice clean upper octave. It doesn't need too much air. It is well made, though you should expect that at this price. Definitely recommended.
