I would say I'm an improver on the flute and I play a lot of traditional dance music, a lot of which is played in the keys of D and G, so being able to play in obscure keys is not so important for me. I have various antique simple system wooden flutes, which are lovely but can be delicate and are often designed for different pitch standards. I was looking for something modern and robust to take to sessions and I'm very glad I stumbled across this flute! It is delightfully simple - no keys to deal with - and I can reach the lower holes easily. Yay! At last - a keyless flute for smaller hands! It completely makes up for all those low whistles where I can't reach. The appearance is striking and you have a choice of colours. The wooden head joint gives it the feel of a traditional flute and a robust sound and the instrument speaks easily over its range. The tuning is excellent - far easier than playing any of my vintage flutes. If you don't need keys and are after something with a manageable reach and lots of other good qualities, you really should consider this.
