The Rottenburgh range is without doubt the world's most successful recorder series and remains one of The Early Music Shop's top sellers.

This Rottenburgh recorder is an unwaveringly reliable instrument with a carrying tone, whether played in small or large ensembles. It also lends itself perfectly for solo pieces, e.g. for sonatas with basso continuo. The Rottenburgh is the ideal all rounder: reliable, balanced and with a full, expressive tone.

The Rottenburgh is the instrument of choice for recorder players wishing to play music at an advanced level. This immensely popular range of recorders was originally designed by Friederich von Huene after models by Belgian maker Jean-Hyacinth-Joseph Rottenburgh (1672-1756). Versatile, reliable and used by all levels of players, Rottenburgh owners enjoy instruments made to consistently high standards.

This best-selling Moeck 4302 Rottenburgh alto is made from European pearwood, a hard wood of even, moderate density and fine texture (Specific density approx. 0.65) This wood produces a soft fundamental tone, ideally suited for both ensemble performance and solo work. The wood is impregnated, meaning there is no need for further oiling.

This Rottenburgh recorder comes with a hard case, cleaning rod and cloth, cork grease, fingering chart and maintenance instructions.

  • Double holes
  • 3-piece
  • Made of pearwood

Review of Moeck Rottenburgh Alto Recorder in Pearwood

Having resisted the desire to play my new recorder I did break it in gently, as advised. I am very pleased with the sound and tone that is developing. The higher C D and E are easy to blow and the sound is solid. I have been playing a Moeck recorder for the past 40 years. Needless to say it is now very worn and is in need of attention. I always found the higher notes a little tricky to be sure of sounding. My new Moeck Rottenburgh feels so sure. It is a lighter, slightly narrower instrument to hold. I play in a recorder trio, a quartet and in a Ceilidh band. It is performing well in all three situations. Love it. Liz Brown

Lovely tone Alto Recorder

The recorder came quickly and safely. It is a lovely instrument with great tone. I'm yet to play it with my group, but I'm looking forward to taking it along.

Beautiful tone!

I got my recorder for Christmas and am still playing in it. Already, I can hear a massive difference in the tone from my plastic recorder. Would highly recommend!

Alto Recorder Review

Great experience. The delivery was fast, and the instrument is high quality as I expected. I will probably place future orders with EMS.

Excellent instrument

The richness of the tone of this alto recorder is remarkable. I've played it side-to-side my plastic recorders and I'm very pleased with the improvement in the sound quality. This improvement in easyness of play and quality of soundt is worth the investment. The recorder comes in a very good-looking box, with a cleaning cloth and cork grease.
