This Renaissance model is based on drawings taken from 'Syntagma Musicum' (1618) by Michael Praetorius. Kobliczek recorders are made by German maker Christoph Hammann and his team. These Renaissance recorders have large cylindrical bores which produce a characteristically strong tone. Made from stained maple, this recorder has excellent intonation over a full two octave range. PO ref. PO1503S Bressan by Blezinger Soprano Recorder in Stained Boxwood (Previously Owned), in excellent condition including original hard case. Fully serviced and revoiced by our technician. The Bressan recorders by Blezinger are instruments made in cooperation with one of the best German industrial recorder makers. As the name implies the instruments are modelled after originals by P. I. Bressan. The recorders have a typically easy response and excellent tuning, combined with a rich and colourful sound. The project is based on Stephan Blezinger’s extensive knowledge of instruments by P.I.Bressan and decades of making entirely handcrafted recorders. The most recent high precision woodwork technology as well as intensive research into treatment of woods are combined with highly skilled workmanship in the hand-finishing of every single instrument – exactly the same processes as handmade recorders. This chalumeau by English maker Erik Martens is keyless, with a parallel bore and is fitted with a modern plastic Yamaha Eb mouthpiece. The sound is mellow and an octave lower than that of an alto recorder. The wood used is sycamore. Supplied with reed and cloth bag. Cotton thread is used to hold the reed onto the mouthpiece, as it would have been done on the original instruments. PO Ref. PO1476S Bentside Spinet after Hitchcock by Stephen Robinson 2009 (Previously Owned) no. 5 with stand and in excellent condition. This instrument has been fully serviced and restored by Peter Barnes. Closely based on the Hitchcock spinet in the Russell Collection of Early Keyboard Instruments, Edinburgh University combined with other Hitchcock spinets. Made along traditional lines but with the added benefit of transposing (playing at a440 and a415). Five octave compass GG-g3; 61 notes. One set of strings, 8'. Case exterior veneered in walnut; interior veneered in figured walnut with ash herringbone inlay like the originals. Includes walnut stand in a turned design based on an original Hitchcock stand.
