Welcome to Recorder31 2026! Over the next 31 days we will be celebrating all things recorder in the seventh annual edition of our month-long recorder extravaganza. From interviews to reviews, from maker profiles to great offers on new and reconditioned instruments, we have something for everyone in store. Today though, we're very excited to launch the tickets and first names for our in-person recorder festival, Saltaire Recorder Weekend, which returns to West Yorkshire in June 2027. Saltaire Recorder Weekend • 4-6 June 2027

Now a firm fixture in the recorder calendar, we can’t wait for you to join us at Saltaire Recorder Weekend 2027! Whether you’re a keen amateur, a seasoned player or simply curious, you’ll find fresh ideas, new music and a warm welcome in historic Saltaire.

The Saltaire Recorder Weekend brings players of all levels together for three days of:

Playing sessions led by a team of expert tutors, suitable for all levels
Evening concerts – Friday (artists to be announced) and Saturday (featuring Anna Stegmann) – included with weekend/day tickets
Shops – browse, try and buy from makers, shops and sheet music suppliers
Fringe performances across the weekend
Social gatherings and networking with fellow recorder enthusiasts

Tutors

We're thrilled to announce the following wonderful names as tutors at Saltaire Recorder Weekend 2027:

Alongside this, we look forward to our Saturday night concert which will feature Amsterdam-based recorder player Anna Stegmann (The Royal Wind Music, Ensemble Odyssee) – further details of Anna's programme and collaborators to be confirmed.

We have some wonderful performers lined up for our Friday night opening concert – but you will need to wait a little while to find out who! Check back soon for updates...

The main festival activities will take place in the Titus Salt School, which is just a short five-minute drive (or ten-minute walk) from The Early Music Shop’s showroom at Salts Mill.

As always, during Recorder31 we will be introducing an instrument from our collection with bespoke audio demos every day this month. From this weekend's Handmade Recorders promotion, today we hear this stunning, and very rare Reconditioned G Alto at a466 after Rafi by master maker Adrian Brown, one of six of his instruments currently available in our collection.
