Recorder31 Day 11 | Ensemble Competition: WIN Three Mollenhauer Recorders!

It’s time for the second of this year’s Recorder31 competitions, and we have an opportunity for you to get together with your recorder-playing friends! Courtesy of our friends at Mollenhauer, we have THREE fabulous instruments on offer for the winners of this week’s Ensembles Competition.

This week, we’d love to hear you playing with other recorder players, and we invite your submissions for our Ensembles Competition. To qualify, your group must be either:

  • A mixed ensemble containing at least two recorders ( not just a recorder duo, must contain other instruments too!)
  • Or a recorder ensemble containing at least three players

You choose the repertoire! Simply get together with your ensemble, film yourselves performing your chosen piece, and submit it to us by Sunday to be in a chance of winning a very special prize worth over £1000!

The Prize

This week’s prize, courtesy of Mollenhauer, is a fabulous consort of three recorders worth over £1000. The winning ensemble will receive a Denner soprano, alto and tenor recorder, all in matching pearwood.

The Denner range is one of the most popular models of recorder within The Early Music Shop’s range, and builds on the legacy of one of the world’s most revered recorder makers, Fred Morgan. Based on Morgan’s design after an original instrument by Jacob Denner (1681-1735), which converted it to an a440 instrument whilst maintaining the sonic characteristics of the original, Mollenhauer continue to pioneer this instrument and it’s a popular choice for students, amateurs and professionals alike. The soprano model won the coveted German Music Instrument award in 1999, after which Mollenhauer

The Early Music Shop - August 13, 2025

Hi Stephen, we welcome entries from players of all ability levels in our competitions – the judging is not done exclusively on experience or virtuosity, and we always take into consideration how well each entrant has played relative to the demands of the piece they’ve chosen. Hope that provides some reassurance.

Stephen Wilkinson - August 13, 2025

Could we have some competitions for the lovely recorders that can be won by beginners rather than experienced players please?
