Recorder31 Day 13 | Featured Maker Interview: Kunath
It's time for another Featured Maker interview for today's Recorder31 feature. Having heard from Mollenhauer last week, today we stay in Fulda but talk to the director of another well-respected recorder firm.
This week, we hear from Jo Kunath.
Kunath has been producing recorders for many years, having started out working in the Mollenhauer workshop across town. Since stepping out alone, Kunath has become the home of both the Paetzold square recorder range, and the Fehr baroque recorder range, as well as developing their own models. The company is known for working on innovative recorder designs and materials, most notably the renewable plastic 'Resona' which Jo discusses in his interview.
Jo took the time to answer our questions while travelling to the UK for the Recorder Summer School.

The Sound of Recorder Music!
As discussed by Jo Kunath in today's Featured Maker interview, Resona plastic is used in the 3D-printing production of Paetzold recorders. This SOLO knick tenor, a development of the Kunath workshop, benefits from its light weight, and easy keywork. Listen to the clips below or follow this link to find out more about this instrument.
