Recorder31 Day 19 | Introducing the SRP Moeck Competition Finalists

We're delighted to share this video introducing the three players who will be competing for the SRP Moeck Solo Recorder Competition in November, as today's Recorder31 treat.

This year, the competition finalists, as selected by panel Erik Bosgraaf, Annabel Knight and Adrian Chandler, are:

Nura Natour, Mathis Wolfer & Jiyeon Bang

We're thrilled to share this exclusive video where each of the finalists will introduce themselves, and share some of their inspiration and advice for other young players...

The final of this year's competition takes place at the London International Festival of Early Music on 10th November. Festival tickets are on sale now and available online here.

About the competition:

The Society of Recorder Players/Moeck Solo Recorder Competition is a biennial competition organised by the Society of Recorder Players with Moeck and the London International Festival of Early Music.

The aim is to encourage young players of talent, and to help them in their professional aspirations. Competitors must show that they are able to sustain a full recital programme at a professional level.

The first prize consists of a recital at LIFEM in the year following the competition, together with cash prizes, donated by Moeck and the Society of Recorder Players.

Tickets for LIFEM 2023 are on sale now from www.lifem.org

The Sound of Recorder Music!

Each day this month we're highlighting an audio clip of a recorder from our extensive range. This soprano recorder in boxwood by Takeyama is at a415 Baroque pitch, and for a lightweight instrument it produces a surprisingly strong sound. Listen to the clips below or follow this link to find out more about this instrument.
