Mollenhauer Dream Soprano Recorder Pearwood Double Holes

25 reviews
£97.08 excluding VAT (UK Export Price)

Mollenhauer 4119. Adri's Dream recorder soprano (descant) c'', pearwood, renaissance (wide) bore, baroque fingering, double holes.

Made from pearwood with dark stained rings, this is an ideal first recorder for teaching in groups or classes, the large finger holes making it ideal for children. Produced in collaboration with reputable Dutch recorder maker Adriana Breukink, the Dream range is a popular choice of instrument with all levels of player. Based on the renaissance style after van Eyck it has a wide bore giving it a broad, full sound, but has conventional baroque fingering. This results in a sound that is full and powerful like the renaissance originals but with an easy response over two octaves. The Dream recorder is also popular with folk musicians who require a louder instrument for performance with amplified instruments.

With cotton bag, mop, cork grease, fingering chart, maintenance instructions.

Light and nimble. Gorgeous warm sound even into the second octave. Easy to move across the break. Blends really well in mixed instrument ensemble . I agree perfect for folk music.

Happy with my purchase

I am still using the recorder for limited time as it is quite new. However, I am very pleased with it. It has a "bigger" sound than my ebony descant without being shrill. I have not played it in a group yet so cannot comment on how it sounds in that situation. Thank you. I am pleased with it.

Initial reactions

The Early Music Shop have asked me for a review of my Mollenhauer Dream soprano recorder, in pear wood. I am enjoying playing it. The holes are a bit closer together than is usual on a soprano. The tone is good and I am expecting it to improve with use. I have had it less than a month. Some of the notes above top G are still a bit difficult but I expect they will improve as well. The recorder is visually attractive and the wood is a lovely colour. The execution of the order and delivery were excellent.

Mollenhauer Dream Soprano Recorder

I am still playing it in. I played it out once and was stunned by the wonderful clear and mellow tone. I still need to work at the upper octave. It is quite different from the recorders I have played in the past but I love it’s sound.

Lovely soprano recorder

How wonderful to be able to try out 3 different recorders to help me decide! I love the baroque look of this recorder and the lower register is smooth and mellow. I’m still playing it in so have not used the upper register so much but it seems to be doing well.
