Love the keys

If you, like me, are a small-handed, short-fingered person who loves tenor recorder but does not love the finger stretch and resulting aches and pains, comfort keys are a must. They make playing so much easier and more enjoyable and, for me, are worth the higher price. I tried out 3 comfort tenor recorders with the EMS's approval service: 2 Mollenhauer Denners in cherry and pearwood, and the Moeck Rottenburgh in stained maple. The Mollenhauer Denner in pearwood ticked all my boxes. The sound is beautiful, the finish is gorgeous and it feels sturdy and balanced when playing - not too heavy, not too light, and above all, no more sore hands thanks to the comfort keys. Over the moon with my new recorder.

Very pleased with my Mollenhauer Denner comfort tenor.

I'm coming from the perspective of an experienced clarinettist but a beginner recorder player. I tried about 10 tenor recorders at the EMS. The Mollenhauer Denner comfort tenner fits my big hands the best and the sound I found to be the most even in all ranges. I have only played a Yamaha plastic tenor previously. The Mollenhauer tone is richer in all registers. I found the higher notes much easier on the Mollenhauer but the very lower notes are easier to play on the Yamaha but sound better on the Mollenhauer. After 10 days it's already starting to blow in and get less stuffy. The service provided by Philip and Finn at the EMS couldn't have been better.
