This chalumeau by English maker Eric Martens is keyless, with a parallel bore and is fitted with a modern plastic Yamaha Eb mouthpiece or similar make. The sound is mellow and an octave lower than that of a soprano recorder (overall length is approx. 325mm). The wood used is sycamore (stained & oiled or just oiled).
Supplied with Eb clarinet reed and cloth bag. Cotton thread is used to hold the reed onto the mouthpiece, as it would have been done on the original instruments.
