David Miller: The Famous Weiss

Write a review

Silvius Leopold Weiss was undoubtedly one of the most highly revered performers of his generation and by far the most prolific composer for the lute, with some 600 solo pieces to his name. An almost exact contemporary of J S Bach, he was known in his lifetime as ‘the famous Weiss’.

David Miller plays a selection of his sublime music  - a cross-section from his early and late periods - on two different Baroque lutes, producing a wealth of colour and expression, and an album to cherish.
