This is my first soprano recorder and I can tell you that you won't regret this purchase. Here is what I like but also what I can consider "didn't like" since I will be writing an honest review.
What I liked:
- Easy to play!
- The recorder feels well built and it won't break easily!
- The low and high register are pretty easy to play.
- The volume is comfortable for my ears, if you are sound sensitve consider buying it.
- The recorder has a "pure" timbre instead of a reedy one which can be good for certain repertoire.
- The response is great when double tonguing but also in every single register.
What I didn't like
- The timbre is not reedy at all compared to the Zen On soprano recorder. But that's ok for some type of music where a pure and clean tone is needed.
- The instrument requires a good breath control and won't forgive you from overblowing so you have to be very careful when playing. However, this is expected and if you control your breath good enough then you will enjoy it.
- I have very big boy hands so if you are like me you should consider buying the Ecodear Alto which is as great as the soprano but it will be awesome due to the size of your hands.
FInally, I am writing this review several months after purchasing the recorder since I wanted to be as honest as possible and believe me... if you want to start playing the Recorder please consider buying it and you will have a very wonderful experience. The recorder is so great you can use it for complex pieces of music!
