Triebert Alto

Good sound, and speaks easily. Looks nice, and is a good price. The service was as usual extremely good.

Triebert recorder

Well first of all l have to say thank you for the impeccable service and help given by The Early Music Shop. For a musical instrument costing a little over £14 it is super and well chosen by yourselves, lt is exactly what l was looking for, which is a treble recorder which sounds good and can be used in many situations.

Very nice budget Alto

I figured if the Early Music Shop calls this their own line, it had to be good, and it is. I'm just a beginner so I can't comment on it's intonation except that it appears to be a bit flatter overall than the Yamaha's I have, which might appeal to people that think the Yamaha's are a little sharp. It's a little sweet, and a little reedy, somewhere between a Yamaha and a Haka. My only complaint is that I got a little bit of joint grease on it, and it instantly altered the matte finish, making it shiny. And no amount of soap and water brought back the matte finish. So be careful of that.

Mixed feelings

I am just a beginner, so keep it in mind...this alto is not really on par with yamaha or aulos as for finishing, but the sound is particular (reedy and airy at the same time, nasal, a bit like a clarinet); the curved windway offers quite a lot of nuances that I am not really able to explore... maybe I will be able in the future, for now I prefer the modest but round sound of my aulos. I was attracted by the matte finishing (less slippery) but I think it's the opposite, satin finish is more slippery. So not really a five star, but you could love the sound, and for this price, it's nice to try.
